21.06.2019

On Friday, 21 June the senate elected Krista Aru to the position of director of the University of Tartu Library.

Candidates for the post of the library director were Liisi Lembinen, Krista Aru and Asko Tamme. The senate admitted that all three were strong candidates and worthy to be elected to the position.

In the secret voting, Krista Aru gathered the most votes. According to Krista Aru, the library is not just a support unit of the university but it should also be a centre which actively contributes to the improvement of academic and research conditions and helps the university to realise its main tasks in society. Aru regards the recovering of a positive work environment in the library to be her most important task in the new job. She said, “Speaking from my varied work experience, I dare say that joy and peace at work are aspects that facilitate the performance of all other tasks.”
