Starting from 8 June, the sports and recreation area located on the 3rd floor of the library will be closed for renovation and refurbishment works. During the approximately month-long renovation, the walls will be repainted and the area will receive new seating areas and a wall bar.
“The renovation of the recreation area is a logical continuation of the dining area refurbishment completed a year ago,” said Lilian Mengel, Head of the Library’s Cultural Environment Department. She added that after the renovation, the area will become more cohesive and comfortable. “In addition to sports activities, visitors will soon also be able to play board games there, stretch on the wall bars, or simply spend time and relax with friends.” To support this, the space will be furnished with tables, bean bag chairs, and dedicated lounge areas.
During the renovation, the current furniture and equipment will be removed from the space, but the popular table tennis option will remain available. Its temporary location will be the area in front of the stairs on the 3rd floor.
In addition to the upcoming renovations of the dining area and recreation area, a wellness room was opened on the 2nd floor in January and has also been very well received by students. “The guestbook we placed there specifically for collecting feedback has received many positive comments,” Mengel noted. “This confirms that we are on the right track – the library environment occasionally needs a bit of redesigning to ensure it remains a pleasant place to spend time from morning until evening.”
The renovation works of the sports and recreation area are being carried out by Vegard Furniture OÜ. The renovated space will reopen to library visitors in July.
