The University of Tartu Library invites students to participate in the training series “Beyond the Click” from March 23 to April 5. The aim of the series is to provide guidance and practical skills for writing essays, seminar papers, and theses.

Over the course of two weeks, various training sessions will take place both at the library and online. Participants will gain an overview of where and how to begin searching for literature, as well as practical knowledge on the ethical and secure use of personal data in theses. The sessions will also cover the possibilities of using artificial intelligence in searching for sources. In addition, participants will be introduced to the library’s research databases, learn how to find subject-specific and reliable sources, and develop an informed search strategy.

The training sessions will also cover correct citation practices. Participants will practice using the reference management software Zotero to collect and organize sources, automatically generate citations, and format reference lists. This helps save time and avoid formatting errors.

The “Beyond the Click” training series supports the transition from simple searching to informed and critical use of information, encouraging a systematic and confident approach to academic study and research. The skills acquired are valuable both during studies and in future professional work.

The sessions are offered in both Estonian and English, and prior registration is required. The full programme of the “Beyond the Click” training series, including registration links, is available on the library’s website.
