Room Ukraine is open in the library

24.03.2022

In the UT Library the room Ukraine with more than 40 books in the Ukrainian language was opened on Monday.  One can study or read books, kids can play with the toys or draw in the room which is located in the rear part of the second floor reading room.

Two weeks ago a collection of the books in the Ukrainian languages was initiated. Several people have donated fiction, popular science and also books for children. „Big thanks to everyone who has helped us with the Ukrainian books for this room,“ said the head of the service department Olga Einasto. “We hope that these books make the Ukrainians who have arrived in Estonia feel more cosy and homely. They can certainly study and work also in all our reading rooms, the room Ukraine is just one additional opportunity.“

The library has already organised several tours for the refugees of Ukraine. “Several of them have already registered as the readers of the library and use the computers and print study materials here,“ told Einasto. “We try to help as much as we can.“ Some of the Ukrainians have already expressed their gratefulness for the opportunity to study or work quietly in the library.

Books in the Ukrainian language can be still taken as a donation to the information desk of the  library.
