The pupil of Boriss Raikov, Tatjana Lukina, collected and published the correspondence of Baer with Russian scholars. In this book there are letters of Baer to his friends, Ferdinand von Wrangell, Friedrich Benjamin Lütke and to his teacher Adam Johann von Krusenstern (published in 1970) treating Baer's activities in the investigation of physical geography in Russia.

The book by Remigius Stölzle, a professor of philosophy from Würzburg, Karl Ernst von Baer und seine Weltanschauung (1897) is today the most complete analysis of the religious views of Baer.	Tartu ülikooli filoloogiaprofessor Leo Meyer pidas Õpetatud Eesti Seltsis ettekande Baeri mälestuseks, mis trükiti hiljem ära eraldi brošüürina. Leo Meyer, a professor of linguistics of the University of Tartu, performed a commemorative report on Baer at the Learned Society of Estonia. It was later published as a separate booklet.
