1868.a. kirjutas Baer artikli oma ammuse sõbra Ferdinand von Wrangelli (1791-1870) kaitseks, tõestades, et talle kuulub Wrangelli maa esmamainimise au.
In 1868, Baer wrote an article in defence of his old friend Ferdinand von Wrangell (1797-1870) claiming that the honour of mentioning Wrangell Island for the first time belonged to him.		 Peeter I 200. sünniaastapäeva puhul avaldas Baer geograafia ajaloo alase uurimuse Peeter Suure teened geograafiliste teadmiste levitamisel, mis oli 1849.a. ilmunud artikli mahukam väljaanne.
K.E.v. Baer oli esimene Venemaa geograafia ajaloo uurija.
On the occasion of the 200th birth anniversary of Peter the Great, Baer published an historical-geographical study Peter`s des Grossen Verdienste um die Erweiterung der geographischen Kenntnisse, which was an extended version of the article published in 1849.
K.E.v. Baer was the first historian in geography in Russia.		 9 1869.a. sai Baerist Eesti (tollal Tartu) Loodusuurijate Seltsi president, kelleks jäi elu lõpuni. Tartu perioodil jätkas Baer teadusuuringuid ning pidas üle 30 ettekande.
In 1869, Baer became the president of the Estonian (then Tartu) Naturalists`Society and remained at this position until his death. in Tartu, Baer continued scientific investigations and made over 30 reports.

In 1876, a long article, Über Darwin`s Lehre, was published. It contains Baer`s estimates of Darwinism and evolutionary theory.
1875. ja 1876. dikteeris nägemise peaaegu täielikult kaotanud Baer töö Homerose Odysseias mainitud geograafilistest paikkondadest, mille Ludwig Stieda 1878.a. pärast Baeri surma välja andis.
In 1875-76, Baer, who was almost completely blind, dictated a paper on the geographical locations mentioned in Odysey by Homer. It was published by Ludwig Stieda after the death of Baer, in 1878.
