ILL for Tartu University Library users

Interlibrary loan is a service through which library materials not owned by the University of Tartu Library may be requested from other libraries.

NB! The service is for fee. New pricelist for ILL services is valid from 05 Sept 2019.

Interlibrary loan requests can be submitted by electronic form: book request form  or article copy request form

Readers are informed about the arrival of requested materials via e-mail or phone.

You can pay:

  • Via internal payments system from the faculty, grant or other budgets (arranged by ILL).
  • Card payment at all service points of the library. When first coming to pick up the materials, you need to submit the receipt to confirm the payment.
  • Bank transfer to the account no EE241010002019753006 (payment explanation: ILL); Beneficiary: Tartu Ülikool/ University of Tartu.) When first coming to use the materials, you need to submit a copy of the payment order.
  • Upon your request, we can issue an invoice to the institution other than the University of Tartu.

ILL books are kept at the reading rooms service point on the 3-rd floor.

ILL books from foreign countries are for in-house use only. Books from the Estonian libraries are possible to borrow.

ILL for libraries

Collection profile: University of Tartu Library is the oldest and biggest continuously working library in Estonia. Being the most universal Estonian research library, its collections contain materials on all fields of science taught at the university.Its collections are mostly oriented towards humanities, social and natural sciences. Fulfilling some functions of national library the University of Tartu Library collects and holds printed and other documents published in Estonia, creating as complete collections of these materials as possible. The size of the collections - 3 813 941 items. Library collections contain a large number of early prints and rare books.

Services for libraries abroad: Loans and copies of items from the collection of the library.Assistance at processing of requests directed to other Estonian libraries.

Book loans: loan period 4 weeks. Price per request - 1 IFLA Voucher (charges or their absence are reciprocal)

Copies: Price per request: 1/2 IFLA Voucher (charges or their absence are reciprocal)
