The campaign “Share your presentation” collects scientific presentations

UT Library invites all researchers and doctoral students to preserve their scientific presentations in the university's digital archive in DSpace. Collecting presentations is the next step following the poster collection campaign.

"Just like posters, scientific presentations can also be considered a new form of academic heritage," said Lilian Neerut, one of the initiators of the "Share your presentation!" campaign and the head of the department of subject information. "A presentation is a part of scientific communication and it would be great if those who were not at the conference but are interested in the topic or need it for their research can read them in the future."

For the author, submitting a presentation to the digital archive is easy: they must fill out an online form on the library's website with the main metadata and upload the presentation file. Then, library specialists add it to the DSpace archive. To facilitate referencing, the author can also request a DOI for the presentation, a permanent reference to facilitate referring.

"It would be nice if submitting presentations to the library became a good practice for our scientists," added Neerut, who expressed the opinion that it would certainly contribute to a wider dissemination of scientific achievements and to the recognition of our scientists. "It's possible that this way, several new cooperation opportunities with researchers from other countries will open up," said Neerut.

The libraries of the Estonian University of Life Sciences, Tallinn University, and Tallinn University of Technology have also joined the same initiative and are also collecting scientific presentations in their digital archives.
