Acquisition is based on the research and teaching needs of the University of Tartu. The library’s aim is to create as comprehensive a collection of national publications as possible in order to ensure the research of national studies at the national university. In addition to materials published in Estonia, the library collects all materials that have been published elsewhere about Estonia, in Estonian or by an Estonian author. Historical collections are expanded, and cultural and scientific archives are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Access to databases and publishers’ e-journal packages is purchased both as joint procurement through the ELNET Consortium and from the library’s own resources. If the desired publication cannot be found, it is possible to use the Interlibrary Loans or ILL service. Requests for acquisition can be forwarded through the e-catalogue ESTER or through subject librarians.
The library has started the project Publish your textbook as an e-textbook! to provide better access to textbooks in Estonian.
With the author’s consent, we will digitise textbooks or educational materials in Estonian to make them easily available for those interested. See the e-textbooks available through the UT network and open-access e-textbooks.
If you wish to publish your educational material as an e-textbook, please contact your subject librarian. Both previously published as well as unpublished educational materials are welcome.
The call UT alumnus – write yourself into science history and publish your dissertation electronically! should ensure that research works done at the University of Tartu are available electronically.
We invite University of Tartu alumni to consent to having their thesis (bachelor’s thesis, master’s thesis, award thesis, doctoral thesis) added to the UT digital archive DSpace. With your consent, we can make your work available in the university’s digital archive. If you only have your work as a hard copy, we can digitise it in the library.
Send your digitally signed consent and, if possible, your thesis file to digitaalarhiiv@ut.ee. To sign the contract on paper, please contact the library at the same address.
The publishing of dissertations at the University of Tartu is regulated by the regulations for awarding doctoral degrees. An entry for the dissertation will be added to e-catalogue ESTER, and the work will be added to the collection of dissertations in the UT digital archive ADA.
In case of questions, please contact Kersti Pedak (kersti.pedak@ut.ee) from the Department of Collections Development.
