Printing, photocopying and scanning

Photocopying, scanning and printing services are available on the ground floor and the 1st floor of the library. A Print in City account is required for most services.

Printing

To print, you need to create a Print in City account. You can register and top up your account on the Print in City page. You may also link your print account to your UT employee ID card, ID card, or public transport card.

The Print in City service allows you to print:

  • from library computers,
  • from your own computer over the Internet (PDF format),
  • directly from a memory stick (PDF format).

To upload a file via the Print in City website, click "Upload files", or send the file by email to [email protected] and follow the instructions in the reply. To print via email, add your email address to your account settings so the system can recognize the sender. UT members may also send files to [email protected].

We recommend using the PDF format, as it ensures the correct print layout.

To print from the computer lab computers, select either:

  • printer-BW (black-and-white), or
  • printer-COLOR (Printer Properties → Quality → Color mode → Color).

You can also choose single- or double-sided printing and paper size (A4 or A3).

At the printer, identify yourself with the card linked to your account. If the job is not printed within 48 hours, it will be automatically deleted.

Photocopying

To use photocopying services, you must have a Print in City account. You can register and add funds on the Print in City page, and link the account to your UT employee ID card if desired.

After logging in, select COPY. Choose a color (black-and-white or color). If necessary, select enlargement or reduction (copy scale) and the appropriate paper size (A4, A4R, A3 or manual feed). You can set the number of copies using the number keys. It is also possible to have 2-sided copies. If the original has a dark background, reduce the optical density. Press the START button to copy.

Scanning with the overhead light scanner Bookeye V3

The Bookeye V3 scanner is located on the 1st floor and is free to use. You can save scanned files to a USB stick or the adjacent computer.

Logging into the computer is required to save files and is available to:

  • UT members (using UT username and password)
  • Registered library users (reader card number + ESTER password)

A quick guide is available next to the scanner. A detailed guide can be found on the desktop of the connected computer.

Self-Service Scanner Guide.

Scanning with a print-copy device

To scan using a print-copy device, you must log in with your Print in City account. The account can be linked to your UT employee ID card.

After logging in, choose a resolution of 100-600 dpi for scanning. We recommend choosing PDF (compact) as the file format. Files can be sent to the e-mail associated with your print account ("Send to yourself") or to a freely chosen address ("New destination"). Make sure your email inbox has enough space to receive large files.

It is also possible to scan text files with text recognition; in this case, select PDF (OCR) as the file format.
