The institute's library combines together three smaller subject libraries: Department of Estonian and Comparative Folklore, Department of Literature and Theatre Studies and Chair of Comparative Literature. Tartu Art Museum library is one of the best collections of art related literature in Southern Estonia. The Library has a wide variety of books that cover different periods in art history as well as art theory and museology, a collection of catalogues of art exhibitions held in Estonia and subscribe to various art related journals. Thanks to donations made by Estonian exiles, the library gives a good overview of art books published in the West during the Soviet times.
