A photo and painting exhibition by Jaak Kadarik will be opened in the library

07.08.2023

In front of the open stacks and on the exhibition area of the 2nd floor, photographer and video operator Jaak Kadarik will open his sales-exhibition "Viewpoint" on Friday, August 11th, at 2 p.m. The exhibition will showcase a variety of Kadarik's works, including analog photography, digital photo editing, experimental photography (deviations from classical chemical processing of analog photography, photograms, brush development, painting on photos), as well as gouache, oil, and acrylic paintings. Art pieces will be available for purchase.

The initial plan for the display was to divide the exposition into four sub-exhibitions: "Perspective" and "Overview" on the first floor, and "Viewpoint" and "Insight" on the second floor. However, the themes became more fluid during the arrangement of the exhibition, with no strict boundaries between the thematic blocks. "This exhibition is the most extensive so far," admits the artist, who has presented nearly 90 pieces of art across two floors. "In front of the open stacks, visitors will encounter my interpretations of the Old and New Testaments, depictions of the world and celestial realms, as well as works portraying women. The conference center walls will host gouache-painted portraits of well-known persons." These will be complemented by photograms of various objects and items. According to the artist, the exhibition also features a darker, subconscious-influenced aspect.

Jaak Kadarik has been active as a photographer since 1980, operating as a freelancer in recent years. He has held over 20 solo exhibitions and his works have been featured in numerous group exhibitions as well.

The exhibition "Overview" will be on display in the library until the end of September.
