UT and TalTech libraries invite librarians to citizen science training
As part of the LibOCS project, citizen science trainings will take place in Tartu on May 3 and Tallinn on May 4, aimed at library employees. The training aims to provide a closer look at citizen science and open science and to guide librarians on how to participate in citizen science projects.
"Citizen science is not yet as widespread in Estonia as in some other countries," said one of the organizers, Lilian Neerut, Head of the Department of Subject Librarians at the University of Tartu Library. "However, this is a field in which we could all contribute, regardless of our education or profession. Libraries can be role models and advisers in this area." That is why the libraries of the University of Tartu and TalTech have decided to offer training in this area to library employees.
The first training days will occur on May 3 at the University of Tartu Library and May 4 at the TalTech Library. School, public, research, and subject library employees are welcome to participate. Both training days will take place from 11 am to 4 pm. They will be led by Svea Kaseorg and Lilian Neerut (University of Tartu) and Kaarin Birk, Janelle Kirss, and Tuuliki Tõiste (TalTech).
The training is free, and the lunch break is at the participant's expense.
Registration is open until April 26 here.
The training is funded by the Erasmus+ project LibOCS (2021-1-EE01-KA220-HED-000031125).
