The University of Tartu Library took part in the international Open Access Week.
A two-day conference was held in the University of Tartu Library on the 19th of October – 20th of October 2010 to celebrate Open Access Week and introduce the concept and aim of open access publishing. Although the annual Open Access Week was globally held already for the fourth time, it was not until 2010 that Estonia became represented in the event.

The conference succeeded in explaining the advantages of open access publishing by describing the local, as well as international experiences in the field.
The programme ended with a round-table discussion, during which a number of important questions about the future of open access in Estonia were raised and discussed.
