Library Lobby is Being Renovated

13.06.2024

Renovation work began in the library lobby on the first days of June, aiming to make the first floor more visitor-friendly, cozy and functional. The renewal of the lobby interior is planned to be completed by beginning of August.

"We want to create an environment in the lobby that supports the essence of the library," said the UT Library director Krista Aru. "The lobby has been too empty and cold so far, but now it will become more comfortable and cozy, with pleasant seating areas added." During the renovation, the information desk will be placed on the left, and a seating and working area will be created on the right. "With the lobby renovation, we will finally have a place for the floor plan, which new readers have been missing for years," Aru added.

The library will not be closed during the renovation, as the work that might disturb readers will be done in the morning or evening hours when the building is not yet open. "There are always fewer people in the library in the summer, which is why the renovation was planned for June and July," said Aru. "We hope that visitors will forgive us for the minor mess-up in the lobby on some days due to the placement of new furniture. The renovation will not interfere with studying in the reading rooms and visiting exhibitions."

Starting from June 25th, the library will be open according to supper schedule: Monday to Friday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., and closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
