First time in history, the university library invites students to the morning library already from 6 a.m. The Morning Library which takes place from December 4 until December 8 is organized together with the UT Student Union.
"The Morning Library could be called the younger brother of the Night Library," said Olga Einasto, the head of the service department at the UT Library. "During these twenty years when we have organized the night library, it has come from time to time that some students would like to come and study with us early in the morning, in the dawn. We thought, let's give it a try this year!". Einasto said that the student union was immediately willing to contribute to the organization, and so the decision was made.
"The future of the Morning Library depends on how many students come here during these five days," said Krista Aru, the director of the library. "Being a morning person myself, I understand very well those who are already doing active mental work at sunrise."
Thus, the library awaits students during the first week of December, opening its doors from 6 am. Since the building is particularly quiet in the early morning hours, it provides an excellent opportunity for focused study tasks that require a peaceful environment.
The traditional night library begins on the second day of the new year and lasts for three weeks. During that time, the library is open on weekdays from 9 am until midnight.
