The University of Tartu Commemorates the Anniversary of the full-scale Russian Invasion in Ukraine and invites everyone to visit the Memorial Exhibition of Unissued Diplomas.
The University of Tartu is hosting a memorial exhibition to commemorate the anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion in Ukraine. The exhibition titled "The Diplomas That Never Be Issued" will showcase the unissued diplomas of the students who were killed by Russia in the ongoing war.
The exhibition will be held for a week at three locations within the university – the library, the Physicum building, and the Delta building. The exhibition aims to show that war steals the regular way of living, and every sphere, including higher education, was affected.
All students who successfully finish the University of Tartu are awarded of diploma. However, since the full-scale Russian invasion started, more than 40 universities across Ukraine have been bombed, damaged, or completely destroyed. Many students lost the opportunity to complete their studies. Hoverer, some of the Ukrainian students lost the main opportunity – the opportunity to live.
The exhibition seeks to honor and remember that fallen students are not statistical data. There were dreams and plans behind everyone who would not manage to get their diplomas. There is a story, not just a number.
The organizers of the memorial invite students, faculty, staff, and members of the public to visit the exhibition and admit there is nothing beyond the war, it ruins everything.
