This year, the Night Library will open for the first week already in December, allowing students to study late into the night.
The Night Library will be open from 9–13 December and then continue for three weeks in January, from 6–24 January. During these periods, the library will be open from 9:00 to midnight on weekdays and from noon to 18:00 on Saturdays and Sundays.
Olga Einasto, the Head of the library’s Service Department, explained that the decision to start the Night Library in December was related to the exam period. "Since many courses have exams in December, we decided, together with the Student Union, to move the Night Library’s first week to this month," she said. If students find it useful, the library is ready to continue opening the Night Library in December in the future.
Last year, the morning library was open starting at 6:00 for one week, but there was little interest in studying so early. "Students still prefer to study in the evenings," Einasto said. Therefore, the library decided to start the evening sessions earlier this year, in December.
