The photos in the exhibition "REDISCOVERED", made by Gunnar Toomemets during the last ten years, depict detailly the Estonian nature in different times of the year. 

“In my photos I have focused on the nature which came closer to us last year which was quite special," said Toomemets. “I wanted to show that the moments of nature and beauty are just nearby." Among other photos there are also some that have captured the moments in Tartu and in its surroundings.

The exhibition “Winners of the Friedebert Tuglas Short Story Award” on the 3rd floor of the UT Library presents the first printed editions of the short stories which have been awarded the prize named after one of the best short stories writers in Estonia.

The collection of articles “Karl Morgenstern 250. Qui vult, potest" about the life and work of  Johann Karl Simon Morgenstern has been published.

UT Library celebrates the 250th anniversary of the world famous composer Ludvig van Beethoven with a mini-exhibition of the letter, written by Beethoven himself to a German musician Bernhard Heinrich Romberg. 

Bernhard Heinrich Romberg (1767–1841) was a composer and cellist, but also a good friend of Beethoven. In the letter Beethoven complains about his poor health, particularly aching ears, due to which he could not meet his friend who was on a tour in Vienna.

University of Tartu Library celebrates the 101th anniversary of the Estonian national university with the exhibition of doctoral theses, defended in 2020.

Printed dissertations of this year's new doctors are exhibited in the 2nd floor hall of the library. 23 dissertations were defended in the humanities, 17 in social sciences, 18 in medical sciences and 52 in natural and exact sciences; 10 of them were written in Estonian, 97 in English and three in Russian.

From 16 November to 13 December the University of Tartu Library offers the digitizing of the out-of-copyright books, stored in the library collections, for a special price. During the campaign period the price for the digital copy is 10 euros.

On 24 September, the exhibition “Tartu Classicist” was opened in the University of Tartu Library to celebrate the 250th anniversary of its first director Johann Karl Simon Morgenstern. The exhibition displays a selection of documents, books and works of art from the library collections related to Morgenstern.

On Wednesday, 30 September a RDA Estonia National Event Opening Minds and Digital Collections: Digital Humanities Seminar will take place in the UT Library. The event will be organized by Estonian RDA Node and DataCite Estonia Consortsium.

The online seminar "Opening Minds and Digital Collections" aims to strengthen the connection between arts and humanities researchers and digital practices, using open resources of cultural heritage (libraries, archives, repositories, etc.) as the main example.

From 07 September until 07 October all books in the renewed UT Library e-bookstore are reduced 20%. Additionally, the clients can now pay for the books via bank link or with the credit card.
