Exhibition highlights our online lives

At the University of Tartu Library, visitors can experience the captivating interactive exhibition "Amplified by AI," which explores the darker sides of artificial intelligence. Posters guide viewers to analyze how to recognize online fraud and provide examples of harassment on the internet.

From chatbots to deepfakes, AI-generated content is becoming increasingly common in the online world. New AI tools make creating text, images, and videos easier, faster, and cheaper. However, longstanding online threats—fraud, harassment, polarization, and biases—are now amplified by AI.

"Amplified by AI" is a creative initiative developed by Tactical Tech and DensityDesign Lab (Politecnico di Milano) in collaboration with IFLA. The exhibition showcases how artificial intelligence influences the creation, dissemination, and use of media and information. Insights are presented through Tactical Tech’s award-winning project The Glass Room in an engaging and interactive tour.

The exhibition is complemented by books that help understand AI biases and stereotyping. Additionally, information and web pages on "data detox" are included, offering practical tips on how to address these online challenges when needed.

Starting in November 2024, the exhibition on the impacts of AI will be displayed in 50 libraries across Europe. In Estonia, it will also be hosted at the Estonian Aviation Academy Library, Tallinn Central Library, Tallinn University of Technology Library, and Tallinn University Academic Library.

At the University of Tartu Library, the exhibition will be open until the end of January.
