The well-being room is a calm and private space where students can relax, reduce stress, and support their mental well-being without leaving the library.
It is a place for rest, reflection, and recovery in the midst of studies or during the exam period.
The well-being room is located in the large hall on the second floor of the library, in the left corner, in the former family room area. The space is intended for shared use by all students and does not require prior booking. You are welcome to enter and leave the well-being room at any time that suits you.
If You Need Additional Support:
If you feel that you need professional help or counselling, we recommend contacting the University of Tartu Counselling Centre, which is located on the third floor of the library.
You may also explore mental health self-help materials on the website peaasi.ee.
Feedback
Your opinion matters to us. Help us further develop the well-being room by leaving feedback about your experience.
The furnishings of the well-being room are designed to support relaxation while also offering opportunities for creative and calming activities.
The room includes soft and gentle lighting, separate seating areas and low sofas for resting, and books that support mental well-being. You will also find materials for creative activities such as colouring pages, origami, and craft supplies, as well as a community journal where you may leave thoughts or encouraging messages if you wish.
Both the well-being room and the library collections offer a selection of books that help you relax and support your mental well-being.
On the third floor of the library, in front of the second reading room, you will find the mental well-being collection (call number 15.1). This collection includes books on mental health, self-care, and coping during challenging periods. Books can be searched via the ESTER e-catalogue. When searching, it is recommended to use Estonian-language subject keywords, as the catalogue is indexed using Estonian subject headings. Searching with Estonian keywords will also retrieve relevant materials in other languages, including English.
You may try keywords such as vaimne tervis (mental health), psühhohügieen (mental hygiene), emotsionaalne areng (emotional development), eneseabi (self-help), enesejuhtimine (self-management), enesehinnang (self-esteem), enesearendamine (personal development), stress (stress), stressijuhtimine (stress management), läbipõlemine (burnout), depressioon (depression), ärevushäired (anxiety disorders), etc. Additional keywords can be found in the Estonian Subject Thesaurus.
In front of the third reading room, there is also a selection of fiction (call numbers 821(i)E and 821(i)M), offering an opportunity to step away from everyday concerns, relax, and enjoy reading for pleasure.
To ensure that the well-being room is a safe and pleasant space for everyone, we have agreed on a few simple guidelines.
