The University of Tartu members have trial access to the international Overton database, which enables users to explore how the research conducted by the university’s scholars has been cited in policy documents. The trial runs until 14 November 2025.
Overton collects policy-related documents from a wide range of policy-making organizations, including government agencies, international organizations, NGOs, and think tanks from approximately 190 countries and territories.
To use the database, users must create a personal account using their university e-mail address. You can register at the website of Overton.
You can search by keyword, organization, or author name to find out whether a specific researcher or publication has been mentioned in policy documents. This allows you to explore which studies have influenced public policy or contributed to public debate beyond the academic sphere.
During the trial period, the first 60 results are displayed, which is usually sufficient for an initial overview. The Overton homepage also includes sample searches to help you get started quickly.
More information and support materials are available in the Overton help center or via [email protected].
