Starting tomorrow, March 25, renovation work will begin in the library's third-floor dining room.
As part of the renovation, a small kitchenette will be installed, including a water tap, cupboard, a microwave, and a dishwasher. "We've wanted to make the cafeteria more comfortable for a long time," said Lilian Mengel, head of the library's cultural environment department. "Students have often mentioned that they would appreciate more opportunities to heat up their food and make coffee." Until now, the room lacked ventilation, which meant that using a microwave was not permitted.
During the renovation, the tables have been temporarily moved to the adjacent sports hall. "Since the space is quite large, we hope that for a few weeks, both those coming to exercise and those wanting to eat can manage together," Mengel explained, adding that it wouldn’t make sense to set up a temporary dining room for such a short period.
Students will be able to use the newly renovated dining room starting in May.
