UT Library invites all researchers and doctoral students to preserve their scientific presentations in the university's digital archive in DSpace. Collecting presentations is the next step following the poster collection campaign.

The Night Library, which is already 20 years old this year, starts on May 15th and lasts for five weeks. Although during this period students focus mainly on studying, the Night Library, together with the UT Student Union, plans to organize several events.

As part of the LibOCS project, citizen science trainings will take place in Tartu on May 3 and Tallinn on May 4, aimed at library employees. The training aims to provide a closer look at citizen science and open science and to guide librarians on how to participate in citizen science projects.

The DataCite Estonia Consortium is organizing a seminar on Friday, May 5th, at Tallinn University of Technology titled "Open Science and Data Management - Mandatory and/or Beneficial?" to provide practical advice for better managing research projects and associated data.

The seminar will cover requirements and principles for open science and research data management, including methods for collecting, documenting, and sharing data, archiving, and ethical aspects. In addition, relevant practices and university services for data management will be introduced.

The Taylor & Francis eBook platform is open for trial in the University of Tartu network until the 31st of May.  The platform includes e-books about science, technology, engineering, medicine, humanities and social science.

In March, six galleries at the University of Tartu launched a series of exhibitions and events called "Order and Chaos" to deepen cooperation and foster synergy between science and the arts.

The library asks all readers who have left their personal belongings in the lockers and closed them to open and empty the lockers by Thursday, 23 March at the latest. On that evening the lockers will be cleaned. The library reminds that the lockers in the first floor are meant to be used only while studying in the library and clothes and other items that are stored there, must be removed by the end of the day and leave the lockers open.

The University of Tartu is hosting a memorial exhibition to commemorate the anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion in Ukraine. The exhibition titled "The Diplomas That Never Be Issued" will showcase the unissued diplomas of the students who were killed by Russia in the ongoing war.

On the third floor of the library, an exhibition of the books by Estonian authors, published in the year 2022, is open. More than 200 books are exhibited, first printings as well as revised ones. 

“The number of literary works, written by the Estonian authors within one year, is quite remarkable,” said the compiler of the exhibition Marianne Tiik. “It is difficult to have an overview of all new books, but here it is a good opportunity to have them just in front of you."

On Thursday, 09 February, starting from 7 p.m., UT Library will host the first indoor orienteering competition.

The starting point of the competition will be set up in the lobby of the main entrance and the checkpoints are located all over the three floors of the library’s public area – in reading rooms, open stacks and other public spaces and lobbies. The preparation will start at 5 p.m., the start will be given at 7 p.m. The competition will last 1-1,5 hours.
