A travelling exhibition about Pope Francis arrives in the UT Library
A travelling exhibition “Holy Father Pope Francis” will be opened in the UT Library, providing a survey of the life of Pope Francis until the moment he was elected Pope, also about his main messages. In addition, the exhibition reminds us of the visit of Pope St John Paul II in Tallinn 25 years ago. The exhibition consists of twelve stands with the texts and photos of the most important events in Pope Francis’s life. The texts are in Estonian and in English.

Personal identification needed in accessing the UT-public Wi-Fi network
Starting from 1 October, all users need to identify themselves when accessing the Wi-Fi network in UT buildings, including the library. This requirement proceeds from the contractual obligations with the EENet and its aim is to maintain the security of our computer networks. Internet use in the buildings of the University of Tartu has been free of charge already for more than 10 years. So far, the visitors were able to use the UT-public network without any personal identification.

An exhibition of Enno Ootsing’s Works Will Open at the UT Library
On Tuesday, 2 October, the exhibition titled “Roots and seedlings. An Album” of the works of the artist Enno Ootsing will be opened at the University of Tartu Library. The exhibition is dedicated to the 100th Jubilee of the Republic of Estonia and it shows 43 pieces of visual arts about the life in Estonia, particularly in Võrumaa.

Library is Again Open After Summer
On Monday 27 August, the University of Tartu Library again opened its doors to all readers. This summer the library was closed for two months to allow the renovation to progress as quickly as possible. From now on, the library is on workdays open already from 9 o’clock in the morning.

UT Library Opening Hours on 21 and 22 June
On Thursday, 21 June the University of Tartu Library celebrates its 216th anniversary. A festive event will be held for the staff and guests in the conference hall of the library. On Thursday the library is open until 17. On Friday, 22 June the library is open 10-12.

Library is closed from 23 June until 26 August
UT Library will close for summer on 23 June. The doors will again be opened on 27 August. Books can be returned to the returns locker at the Akadeemia street entrance from Monday till Friday 9-17. Urgent questions will be answered on workdays 12–16 on the phone 737 5715.

Tõnu Kollo’s Jubilee Exhibition Will Be Opened at the UT Library
The exhibition to celebrate the 70th jubilee of Tõnu Kollo, the mathematician and statistician, will be opened on the second floor of the UT Library on 1 June at 15.00.

National Seminar on Research Data Will Take Place in UT Library
University of Tartu Library, the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Estonian Social Sciences Data Archive (ESTA) will hold the OpenAIRE national seminar “How to Get the Maximum from Research Data – Prerequisites and Outcomes” at the University of Tartu Library (W. Struve 1) on 29 and 30 May 2018. On 29 May, the seminar will start at 13.00.

Night Library Will Open on 21 May
On 21 May, the UT Library will open its traditional Night Library. In addition to regular opening hours, during the next three weeks, from Monday to Thursday, the students can study in the library for three more hours; the library is open from 10.00 until 24.00.

Students' photo exhibition SEQUENCES Will Be Opened at UT Library
On Thursday, 10 May at 5pm, the photo exhibition “SEQUENCES” will be opened at the University of Tartu Library. The exhibition grew out from the students’ works at the lecture series “Wild Aesthetics or How to Describe the Forest to Digital Hares” led by Peeter Laurits, the photo artist and University of Tartu Professor of Liberal Arts.

Today Is the Last Day of Pop-up Reading Rooms
The pop-up reading rooms on Veski Street, where the students could study and prepare for their exams since last summer, will be closed today. The library will open on this Wednesday and reading rooms at a separate location have fulfilled their purpose.

UT Library Will Open Its Doors on 25 April
The first stage of the UT Library renovation has been completed and parts of the building will be opened for readers on 25 April at 12.00. Although the renovation of the library will continue, students will soon be able to prepare for their spring exams in the new environment.
