Exhibition of tiny birdhouses from found materials

An exhibition of miniature birdhouses by Heikki Jaason is on display outside the great hall on the second floor of the library.

The birdhouse display is a kind of architectural sketch. According to Jaason, it is an incidental art project that has taken shape over several years, mainly from found materials. “The first house inspired the subsequent iterations, which are linked by shared features,” the artist said about the development of the project. “A pleasingly symmetrical number seemed a convincing reason to stop. Above all, it was a creative exercise with the simple aim of making something interesting to look at.”

The birdhouse exhibition is open at the library until 3 January 2027.
