Elsevier SciVal Funding Database and De Gruyter e-magazines Are Open For Trial
Upon the request of the Office of Research and Development of UT the database Elsevier SciVal Funding is open for trial until 2 May 2017. The database contains information about the research funding programmes and grants. Until the end of June 2017 De Gruyter e-magazines are available for trial. The database contains more than 900 magazines practically from all research fields.

UT Library organises the public reading of Odyssey
UT Library will hold the public reading of Homer’s Odyssey on Friday, 24 March at 11.00. The epic will simultaneously be read in 26 countries in relation to the European Festival of Latin and Greek in Lyon. “We will read out the 5th book of Odyssey, and we will do it in Estonian as well as in old Greek,” said one of the organisers of the event, the UT Library senior research fellow Janika Päll. “This book tells us about the beginning of the last decisive stage of Odysseus’s journey home.”

Open science seminar invites researchers to share their ideas
Live stream On 20 April, the University of Tartu Library and DataCite Estonia will hold an international seminar Open Research Data - the FAIRest Data is the Future of Science at Tallinn Technical University, welcoming all scientists, researchers, postgraduates and other interested people. The seminar focuses on research data, approaching the topic from technical, political and practical aspects.

University of Tartu Library Launched Its First MOOC "Information Literacy"
The University of Tartu Library launched the Estonian-language MOOC titled “Information Literacy”. This is the first open online course fully developed and managed by the library staff. The main aim of the course is to introduce different information sources available on the Internet and provide knowledge and practical information search skills.

UT Library opened a web exhibition of photos “From a Dream to Reality: 35 Years from the Opening of the Library Building”
UT Library opened a photo exhibition on its website, celebrating the 35th anniversary of the opening of the new building in Struve Street. The exhibition contains … photos. The new UT Library building was opened on 22 February 1982. The web exhibition introduces the story behind the planning and building of the library and presents photos of the construction, moving of the books, the opening ceremony and the interior design of the building.

ESTER Is Now Accessible Via The International Karlsruhe Virtual Catalogue
Starting from 7 February, the e-catalogue ESTER is accessible via one of the largest meta catalogues in the world – the Karlsruhe Virtual Catalogue http://kvk.bibliothek.kit.edu/. The Karlsruhe Virtual Catalogue is a meta-catalogue of e-databases and books, established by the Karlsruhe University Library in cooperation with the IT department of the same university in 1996. Today the catalogue enables meta search in 74 databases worldwide, including the biggest Estonian e-catalogue.

On the platform EBSCO the databases Dynamed Plus and CINAHL Complete are open for trial until the end of April. The database DynaMed Plus is developed for receiving quick and essential information in the process of practical work on the basis of evidence-based clinical data.

The opening hours of subject libraries at university institutes are extended by three more hours
UT Mathematics and Informatics Library and the Library of Social Sciences,as well as the libraries of the College of Foreign Languages and Cultures, the Information Centre at Iuridicum, the Institute of Physics, and Biomedicum are, starting from 3 October, open from Monday to Friday 9.00-20.00.

Night Library comes again!
Starting from 23 May 2016, the UT Library, in cooperation with the UT Student Body Foundation, will for two weeks on Monday to Thursday be open for three additional hours. The children’s playroom Nimmik-Nummik will also be open during these weeks. Library hours: 23-26 May 09.00-01.00 30 May-02 June 09.00-01.00 Up to 1AM, students can use the open collections in all subject area reading rooms, group work rooms, book check-out, computer workstations and the great hall on the first floor.
